From the Beater’s Line

This image was used by the National Organisation of Beaters and Pickers Up on the cover of their first publication.

Having been a keen beater now for sometime I have often carried my camera with me on some of the smaller shoots I have attended over the years. From the people, the dogs and the landscapes I feel very fortunate to be on these shoot and see the beautiful British countryside as I do but having a camera out is not always possible as my responsibilities within the beaters line will be compromised. My first priority as a beater is to either tap my stick or raise my flag and not grab my camera!  However, quite often whilst waiting for a drive to start or more often when the drive is over there is an opportuity to take one or two photographs. Here are some of my favourites from over the years.

Please note when beating I only use a small compact so sometimes the quality of the image is reduced.
