The Glorious Twelfth

It’s that time of year again!! The Glorious Twelfth has come around & after a last minute flurry of preparation we are back out in the field for another season.The shooting season follows a traditional pattern starting today ‘The Glorious Twelfth’ with Grouse, Ptarmigan & Snipe followed by Duck, Geese & Partridge on September 1^st & finally Woodcock & Pheasant on 1^st October.I was lucky enough to be invited to photograph a grouse shoot last Autumn in Yorkshire. Here is a selection of the images from the day.

I am available to photograph your shoot day from just £250 for attendance – during the day I will photograph in a photo-journalistic style, capturing the day as it unfolds. From the beaters to the guns he will tell the story of your shoot. I spend time on peg with each of your guests as they shoot away capturing the great shots and misses!

After the event we work on the images and upload them to a secure gallery for your guests to see. We can also provide a CD of high resolution digital images for you to print from. All of these images are digitally enhanced to remove blemishes etc and finished to the highest standard for your own use. Alternatively, we can provide you with an album of the images expertly designed showing the images at their best in a beautifully bound coffee table book. Prices from £250 for the first book, additional books for your friends or guests are available on request at a discounted rate.

Yesterday I had the privilege of photographing the United Retriever Club Gundog Finals hosted by the Buckinghamshire area club at Windsor Great Park. A fantastic day for all that attended and the 27 dogs that I photographed from the 9 regions were a joy to watch (and photograph!). The first test I photographed was a water test and the second test I photographed was a walked up style test which worked really well for photography. I was in the middle of the beating line with teams on either side of me!

Last day of the season tomorrow – see if you can go out on a high! #FieldSports

Tomorrow is the last day of the shooting season so I hope you all have a fabulous day. I’ve been out today with the gun and left the camera behind and we all had a great day in the Oxfordshire countryside. Thankfully we finished just in time before the bad weather came in and we were all tucked up in the local pub with ham, egg and chips!

Here is a shot all of my Twitter followers will have seen that I took earlier this month. It was from another lovely Oxfordshire shoot I photographed, we had just had a shower and then on the last drive the rainbow appeared.

It is a fabulous experience being out in the great outdoors and I love it whether I have my camera, a gun and even my flag in hand. Roll on the 1st September 2014!

A photo shoot with @Urbangundog and @Ruralgundog

Recently I had the pleasure of meeting two lovely dogs, both famed in Twitter stardom but thankfully neither of them have forgotten their roots. I’m talking about @urbangundog and @ruralgundog two handsome and extremely popular black labs. (They are worth a follow as they are great entertainment!)

We met up on a field owned by one of my farming friends for the session. Urban and Rural’s owners supplied the clothing and the farm supplied the brace of pheasants.

Here are some of my favourite images from the session.

A gun dog photography session is a great way to round off the shooting season whilst your dogs are looking fit and trim! Gun dog photography sessions from just £50 for up to two hours in the South Oxfordshire area. I am happy to travel to you for the shoot and travel expenses will be charged. Well, look no further, I am proud to launch a range of cards of country scenes from hunting, shooting, dogs, chickens, farm yards animals that I have taken over the last few years.

All cards are A6 and printed on an FSC certified stock. They’re satin coated on the outside for better colour reproduction, and the inside is left uncoated for you to write a message. All cards are presented in a cello wrap bag and sent in a card backed envelope.
